Installation
Hostile Planets is available on PC (Windows and Linux) and Steam Deck.
- Purchase or download the game through your chosen platform or storefront (e.g., Steam).
- Allow the download to complete fully before launching.
- Make sure your system meets the hardware requirements listed on the product page.
- Launch the game from your platform client.
On Steam Deck, the game is Steam Deck Verified. No additional configuration should be required.
First Launch
On first launch you will be prompted to:
- Choose display settings (resolution, fullscreen/windowed).
- Configure control bindings if you prefer non-default inputs.
- Sign in or create a WDS account if you want to use leaderboards or cloud saves (optional for local play).
Basic Gameplay
- Objectives – Each level has a defined goal. Check the in-game HUD for current objective status.
- Combat – Engage enemies at range or up close. Different enemy types have different behaviors — adapt your approach for each zone.
- Progression – Upgrades you earn during a run carry forward. Experiment with different builds to suit your play style.
- Leaderboards – After completing a level, your score is submitted automatically if you are signed in.
Controls
Default controls are shown in the in-game settings menu. You can rebind keys and buttons to suit your preference.
- PC: Keyboard and mouse, or controller (Xbox/PS layout supported).
- Steam Deck: Full controller support with default Steam Deck bindings.
Tips for New Players
- Take time to learn each zone’s enemy patterns before pushing for high scores.
- Upgrade survivability early — staying alive longer leads to better scores.
- Use the leaderboard view to see what scores others are achieving on each level.
